Early Life and Career

Burroughs was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on September 12, 1980. As a youth, he won two Little League World Series championships and an Olympic gold medal in 2000. After a standout high school career, he attended the University of Southern California on a baseball scholarship.

In 2000, Burroughs was drafted by the San Diego Padres with the 16th overall pick in the MLB draft. He made his MLB debut with the Padres in 2002 and went on to play for several other teams, including the Arizona Diamondbacks and Tampa Bay Rays.

MLB Career

Throughout his MLB career, Burroughs played 855 games and had a batting average of .266. He was known for his defensive prowess at third base and his ability to hit for power.
